'REDANG' shoot with long shutter speed

I had a trip with group of friends to Redang Island on 3th till 5th June. Actually I went to Redang last two years, but the relax feeling at the the island had attracted me back again.

Last two years, I had a nice and memorable at the island with events' friends. Same goes to this time, I knew most of them from various events. Some of them are my teamates in some events.

I didn't shoot much photos this time, because most of the time spent in snorkeling, breakfast, lunch, hi tea, dinner, supper, and clubbing. where got spare time!? So, i just enjoy in the trip without shooting much photos.

3rd day no photos, because still blur blur. having a lot of fun with them and really sorry for the return bus because wait for the bus for 6 hours, and it took 11 hours back to melaka, sigh... but i hope for next trip to other place again.

3 days Publication

I worked as a photographer on the early of May for an event. This event is corresponding to the Mother's day celebration. The company would like to greet whole Malaysian mothers for this memorable day. As a appreciation for the support of the user, the company published picture of the mother and their son/daughter in The STAR newspaper. This Mother's day event was running 15 stations in whole Malaysia and Mydin MITC Melaka was one of it. Thanks Ben Ming intro this work to me.

I didn't see any pictures that i snap in the 1st and 2nd day publication. But at last, on the 3rd day, 9th May 2009, I found out that 7 pictures snap in Mydin were published in the newspaper. Actually it was just around 10% of the total number of photos that i capture in Mydin, but I quite feel glad that it was my first time that my photos selected to be published in the media.

Friendship Jump!

It's been a long time that I not able to update my blog since busy with the final year report and presentation and luckily the last presentation was going smoothly last week. I think some of you had read the lee hong blog regarding the old bird photo section. But I still wanna share this through here as a memoir in Uni life.

Thanks to Ah loong for the photo shooting. haha! He was teased by all the old bird for his photo shooting skills throughout the photo section. But our intention was just to make a joyful photo shooting only. Hope he don't mind.

I think i spent most of my uni life with these few fellas. They are good helping hand and we worked as a team in many activities and events. I learned a lot from them. Actually there are more friends that we worked out together but this photo section is just for those who are final year. Too bad there is no much time to shoot with others that i know in society.

Anyway, it's fun and it's a gift that i can know these buddies. hopefully we can still keep in touch in the future. maybe will meet at someone wedding. haha! ok, let's check out some of the photos that we shoot during evening moment.

Symphonious Odyssey 绚音翔旅

Committees were busy before the event start

On 18th April, I attended Symphonious Odyssey, 绚音翔旅, a chinese orchestra organized by Chinese Orchestra Society. Thanks to Khai Mun for the invitation. Sorry for the late sharing because was busy with the final year report last few weeks. Chill =)

Basically, i quite impressed with this event because although they are studying in university, but their enthusiasm upon the Chinese culture and instrumental is highly appreciated. Besides, this type of orchestra is hardly to be found in local. It's proud that it can be organized successfully in MMU.

A Chinese Instrument, not sure what's name, but i know the sound is like 'qiang qiang...or ding ding..'

On that night, I saw the support of this event by the outsiders attendance . This type of cultural event should be encouraged so that I can be continued to the next generation. In order to show my support to this type of cultural event, I had uploaded quite a number of pictures of this event to expose these traditional instruments.

This is vertical shooting because i found that in this picture, the sun and the eye of malaysia is the eye of this picture, then followed by a nose at the bottom of both of these. It construct a human face structure. That's what i think!

This guy had accompanied for the whole report progress. and two copies of report printed for submission. Luckily everything was going smoothly today. thanks to friend who gave their mentally and technically and printingly support.

An old age desktop since Form 5. Yes, it's slow but my demand is not high, so it still serve me well. =) Messy tables with lot of journal to be included in my report. >.<

29th April was a relief day for me at least. Submitted final year report. Back to blog and photo sharing.

Printed photos!

Today i got the printing photo from Top Studio. I believe there is no much peoples will go to print out their photos nowadays. Majority of the peoples will browse the digital photos on the computer. But in my view, I do love to print out the photos. i will browse this real photos once awhile. It's good if u can touch the real photo rather than photos in the virtual world. I had picked some photos to print it out last few days.

The quality of the printed photos is not bad. But i just feel like it a bit too bright. Perhaps the calibration of my computer and the printing machine at the studio is difference. >.< This printed photos cost me hundred over. So friends, please don't forget to look for me for your photos and hopefully u all can pay the cost for the photos as well. haha. because i hope that i can print another batch of the photos.

On this morning, Jock, Jacqueline and I went to the MITC, Melaka, to have a look to the Autoshow which organized by the Engineering Society, MMU. We arrived early and had a chance to visit the pit stop. We did shoot some photos and able to have a near distance look to the performance car.

Then we were asked to go to the visitor section since the practice was going to start. So, here are some photos that I shoot in this morning. Let's have a look of it.

MSCC Committees

On 5th of April, I attended Micros Song Composing Competition in my Uni. I helped Vince to shoot the photos of this event. At the same time, I gave my hand to Ah Loong as well in the live broadcasting video team. Basically we don't have much experience in the live broadcasting video, and we just guided briefly by En. Halim from the Audio and Visual Unit.

I felt that the objective of tat event is not bad. It gave a stage to the local homegrown newbies who enthusiastically in song composing, to promote their favorite composed songs. On that whole night, the songs mostly were sentimental songs type. I prefer the rock songs personally. But they still performed well and i did enjoyed with their performance as well.

HDR - Christ Church Melaka

On valentine day of 2009, Ryan, Tham and me made a promise to have a photo shooting. We decided to make an attempt to shoot the High Dynamic Range (HDR) pictures. Our destination was the Christ Church Melaka.

We departed early in the morning in order to capture the sunrise moment. It was a nice journey to hang out with Ryan and Tham and do always look for another trip with them again. Anyone want to join us is always welcomed.

it's a combination of 3 photos with different shutter speed in order to get different exposure of the pictuers. I combine these 3 photos by using Photomatix software. I believe there is more skills needto be improved for me.

Performers, Teachers, Committees

Yesterday, I was invited by Ryan to have a photo shooting for their event, a choir presentation organized by Chinese Orchestra Society. I found out there was quite a number of outsiders attended their event. I felt that they did pretty well during the publicity.

They did perform well for their 1st time

It was quite difficult for me to shoot the photo due to lacked of light. Even when the light was sufficient, it was unbalance light on the performers' face. So, the result of the pictures made some of the performers just looked like a zombie. =( It's time for me to fund a flash gun.

I was enjoyed with their performance. They did perform well. Let's have a look the pics of that night. Comments are always welcomed. =)

Case & Diffuser

Last Friday, Robin and I made a date to attend the DCIM show at Midvalley. Basically, it was a camera exhibition. The main booth were nikon, canon, panasonic and equipment shops' booth. I wondered why Sony didn't set a booth in this exhibition.

That day we managed to try some mid range and high end cameras such as Nikon D3x, Nikon D300, Canon 5D mkII, etc. It was a pretty good experience for me to try these. But so far, i satisfy with my 400D.

God Speed lens case and built in flash diffuser

I decided to buy a lens case for my 55-250mm lens. It just cost me RM30. haha. quite happy with it. because keep looking for the low budget. Then i also bought a built in flash diffuser. Since I don't have a budget for the flash gun, so for the time being, hope the built in flash and the diffuser do the job well.

Their wedding day

On last saturday, 28th March 2009, I attended Michelle's weddding (primary school classmate) at KL. She told me since i was at girl side, so automatically i was her 'ji mui' as well. >.<

Basically i just attended the wedding ceremony in the morning section. The wedding was fun when Michelle's 'ji mui' trick the bridegroom and his 'heng tai' with some games and I did enjoy and get fun on it. Luckily I was 'ji mui' on that day.

Rachel Liang, 梁文音

February of 2009 , a new born and famous Taiwanese singer made her visit to Malaysia to promote her first album. This new born baby is Rachel Liang Wen Yin (梁文音）. Basically at first moment, I was not sure who the hell is she. But then, I was told that Rachel Liang is a runner up winner in a singing competition series, One Million Star in Taiwan.

So i didn't miss my chance to get a closer look of this singer when one of her stop in Malaysia was at my university. Thanks to the organizer who gave me a chance step at the most front row for photo shooting.

She looks sweet and pretty well in singing. Although i didn't listen to her song before the event, but at least i was enjoyed with her songs rythem. I shoot quite a number of pictures for her, but i choosed this few pics that satisfied my taste.

Round Moon

My youngest sister called me on that night and asked me to go have a look of the moon. She told me it was round and reminded to shoot the photo of the moon. So, i decided to go out with my camera and free gift tripod. haha!

Surprisingly, it was a peace night, clear view of the moon, no mist, and the sky was totally 'clean'. What you would see on the sky was just had a round moon. Well, it's round and big! After few tries of setting, i able to shoot the following picture which satisfied me and it was cropped. But it still had lot of noise at the moon.

I included a buddha quotes which i find it quite motivated.
Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment - Buddha

As FYP due date is coming soon, think i really need to concentrate my mind on this. i'm going to quit clubbing, quit yamca, quit facebook! haha!

By the way, my youngest sister is just 11 years old. Many outsiders always thought she is my daugther whenever i bring her out >.<

MSCC & SAAS

Last thursday i helped ah loong to have a group photo shooting for 2 events which were MSCC (Micros Song Composing Competition) and SAAS (Social Awareness Activities Series).

The photo shooting section was going smoothly for two events and I had a great moment with all the "models" (there were more than 100 models for two events). I found out that i prefer the natural shoot rather than posing ready shoot. I love to see the real 'faces' of the peoples.

JRock の Tamashii 2009

On 21st March 2009, i was asked by Mashi to help them shoot photo for their performance during the JRock の Tamashii at Republic Bar, Sunway Pyramid. Thanks to Mashi who gave me an invitation ticket and a chance to have my rookie photo shooting.

The night was rocked by seven local band with japanese songs. So, my task was easy; just shoot photos for Kawaii Sakura, Mashi's band. I was in a team with TJ. He bought a Nissin 622 flash gun for that event. I'm wondering when will be the time i get my own flash gun. So poor for the time being T.T

Perhaps i don't listen japanese songs frequently, but i do watch Naruto anime. Since Kawaii Sakura perform quite a few songs of Naruto songs and as well as their theme songs, , i did enjoy their performance on that night.
